Increase Productivity with Modern Hardware
That three-year-old PC your receptionist is using probably won’t bring your business to a screeching halt when it dies. But when the five-year-old server in the closet behind her desk does, it can cripple your entire company. All technology has a set lifecycle. Manufacturers call this life cycle MTBF, or mean time between failures.
Servers and PC hardware, in general, have a life span of about 3-5 years. This life span depends on how much this equipment is used – and whether employees would be more productive with modern hardware. There are also tax and accounting benefits for IT asset management. If you don’t have scheduled lifecycles, you should start now.
And when you replace your six year old workstation, don't forget to go with dual monitors!
A significant number of research products have clearly demonstrated that additional screen real estate -- in the form of multiple displays, larger displays, or both -- improves productivity. Microsoft studies showed up to a 50% productivity improvement, research firm Pfeiffer Group achieved 65% with MCAD users and the University of Utah found real world document editing and emailing improved between 6% and 33%. Additional benefits include lower error and printer utilization rates. With these numbers, it costs your business more NOT to go with dual monitors!
